The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, jointly operated by the European Commission and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) - announces that the program FDI in Japan 2007 is open for candidates from Trade Associations, Employer Federations or similar organisation and for its members. Japan Advisory Inc. is commissioned by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation to introduce the Foreign Direct Investment in Japan course program - FDI in Japan 2007 - , designed for senior executives from EU firms responsible for defining and rolling out strategic investment plans in Asia/Japan. FDI in Japan 2007 offers an excellent opportunity for EU firms to acquire an in-depth understanding of Japanese M&A execution for the purpose of implementing business integration plans with Japanese partners.

Costs for participants
The EU-Japan Centre covers all costs directly related to the programme (i.e. conferences, seminars and transportation costs during group field trips in Japan). The participant’s firm is expected to cover the participant’s travel costs to and from Japan as well as living expenses in Japan (including accommodation).

The EU-Japan Centre For Industrial Cooperation is an organization jointly operated by the European Commission and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The EU-Japan Centre aims at fostering the development of industrial cooperation between companies from both regions through training courses for businesspeople, for EU and Japanese students and researchers, through information services as well as high-level industrial dialogue.
Profile of participants
A. The candidate from a sponsoring firm should be an executive responsible for M&A, corporate strategy, planning and development, or a manager/executive with past experience in preparing and conducting M&A for his/her firm working for a company with a sales turnover of at least Euro 500M, and working for a company with a record of cross-border M&A transactions.
B. The candidate from a sponsoring Trade Association, Employer Federation or similar organisation should be: an executive with responsibility for cross-border M&A transactions, and employed by an organisation having members meeting requirements A.3. and A.4. above.
Eligibility of applicants
The candidate: * must be a citizen of an EU Member State; * must work for an organisation that is >50% EU-owned; * must be supported by his/her employer and be able to participate in the entire programme; * must have a reasonable command of English; * should be an executive from a European company; * should have a minimum of 10 years’ working experience.
