WORKSHOP I “EMPLOYERS’ OBLIGATIONS RESULTING FROM EU AND ILO OSH STANDARDS”
BERLIN – HANOVER, 20 - 22 NOVEMBER 2006
In the framework of the above-mentioned project, the ILO Turin Centre will organize, from 20 to 22 November, the first workshop and study tour on “Employers’ Obligations resulting from EU and ILO OSH Standards” in Germany (Berlin and Hanover).
Background
Employers, have a key role to play in the implementation of existing legislation and in the promotion of healthier and safer working conditions. Their capacity to develop sound partnerships with workers’ representatives and with health and safety authorities, and to provide services in the field of OSH, should be strengthened.
The first workshop is to take place in Germany (Berlin and Hanover) from 20 to 22 November 2006.
Objectives of the workshop
The general objective of the workshop is to promote an OSH culture among employers’ organisations and to strengthen their capacity to deal effectively with safety and health issues from an organizational perspective.
The immediate objectives of the workshop are to have the participants: - acquainted with the main obligations resulting from international OSH standards; - review OSH strategies and services provided to members by German employers; - identify ways to improve OSH.
Participants
Each national delegation will have two members, one being a member of the Board in charge of social protection issues and the second one being the organisation’s OSH expert / focal point.
Structure and content of the workshop
The three-day workshop will consist of the following modules:
- The main obligations of employers resulting from EU and ILO OSH standards · Risks management: principles and activities · Latest developments in OSH regulations · Economics of OSH: cost or investment · Best practice
- The role of employers’ organisations at national and sectoral level in assisting members in applying OSH standards · Policy / strategy · Partners · Services to members
This first training activity will be conducted in cooperation with the German Employers’ Confederation (BDA) and the German Accident Insurance Association for Mining, Quarry and Construction Material Industry (StBG/BBG).
We are pleased to invite your organisation to be represented by two staff members in the above-mentioned workshop. One should be a member of the Board in charge of social protection issues. The second one should be the organisation’s OSH expert / focal point.
Additional information and registration
All participation costs (tuition fees, lodging, medical insurance, a lump sum pocket money and air-ticket) are covered by the offered fellowship.
The second activity of the project, a study tour in Belgium, is scheduled for mid-December.
